LADDIE

Laddie, 11×14 Graphite

I have a soft spot in my heart for those who lose a furry member of the family. I remember being about 11 years old chasing our first dog down the street after he bolted because we lived on a busy street. I also remember when he dashed in front of a stream of cars right before my eyes and the sound of screetching tires and …. a thud! That kind of shock to your heart is the same no matter how you lose a furbaby.
Each time I get a request to draw a portrait for someone who loses their dog I can immediately relate and it propels me to bring as much life into the drawing as possible. This is Laddie. He gave much happiness to his family. You can see there was also much fur involved 😊, but I really wanted to capture the expression on his face that I’m sure his family will never forget. 🐶
