“Hush Little Baby”
While searching for a practice photo I pulled this one from my collection. I thought it would be good to test my paper and some tools. As I was drawing it dawned on me that my goal was never to draw something that looked exactly like the photo (photorealism). Of course, it needs to be a close likeness but I figured if I can’t tell the photo from my art then I’ve have only challenged my technical skill, which is a valid goal. But what drives me is the feeling a photo gives me. I think my goal in drawing is more about extracting the ‘feeling’ of a photo using my art style. Therefore, I have coined a term for what I do … PHOTOFEELISM 😍….at least I haven’t heard this term anywhere else but we all know there is nothing new under the Sun. 🤷🏽♀️
I saw this photo and immediately felt some momma/baby connection and the comfort she was feeling. So, I wanted to try and put that feeling in paper. ❤️
How Beautiful! I am sure her mama loves her portrait ❤️
